For a W or W/S coded fabric, yes — vacuum well, blot spills promptly, and spot-treat fresh marks with a water-based cleaner after testing a hidden spot. DIY handles freshening and fresh spills. It cannot remove years of embedded oils or treat delicate fabrics, set-in stains or pet urine in the foam — those need professional extraction.
W means water-based cleaning is safe, S means solvent only (no water), W/S means either is fine, and X means vacuum only — professional clean only. It is usually on a tag under a cushion. If it reads S or X, do not attempt a wet DIY clean; you risk a permanent watermark or shrinkage.
